Planters nuts recall: Two products called back due to potential for listeria

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration said 4 oz. packages of Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts and 8.75 cans of Planters Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts have the potential to be contaminated with listeria.

Planters mixed nuts recall
RALEIGH, N.C. — Several Planters products have been recalled because of a possible health risk.
The U.S. Food & Drug Administration said 4 oz. packages of Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts (UPC: 2900002097) and 8.75 cans of Planters Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts (UPC: 2900001621) have the potential to be contaminated with listeria.

The products were shipped to Publix distribution warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and North Carolina and to Dollar Tree distribution warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

No other sizes, varieties, or other packaging configurations of Planters products were included in the recall. There have been no reports of illness related to this recall as of Monday.
