RALEIGH, N.C. — An Amtrak passenger train on Wednesday hit two unoccupied cars on the tracks near the intersection of Hillsborough Street and Beryl Road in Raleigh.

Around 1 p.m., a spokesperson from Amtrak said Train 75 traveling from Raleigh to Charlotte hit two cars that were on the tracks.

According to Raleigh police, the drivers were able to get out of their cars before the crash.

"I ran to him and said, 'Get out!'" Aziz Habites, a witness, said. "He just got out and I was running to see my kids. It was so close, I just saw the car flying over my head."
