Yeah the example you mentioned was ‘unbalanced offenses’, hence the Rolesville reference for 4A. I have no clue why they were not in the finals. Clear favorites but that’s why the games are played

SQ..your point is well taken. My critique was an overall observation of the totality of Play. I know that we have the talent and skill set to compete at that level. But it is going take thinking beyound our individual conferences or Divisions.

I thought Fayetteville 71st represented the EAST very well. That was a great game with Hickory. In terms of the offenses in the East, it’s a shame the state couldn’t see that Rolesville offense. I believe a 3500 plus yard passer and a 2000 rushing yards running back. Both are underclassmen

Thanks EDDIE there are a lot of great high school football fans out there. Your input in this forum has always been precise and on point. Thank you EDDIE. There was one glaring visual point though out those Championships and it was the unbalanced offenses of the Eastern Division teams. Running can get your team to the Championships, but passing gives the you ability to offset opposing defenses. The West clearly were more prepared and balanced than our Eastern teams. And l would be remiss, if l didn't recognize how much more physical and stronger the Western Division teams were across all classifications. We have some serious work to do over here, if any team a has aspirations of playing and winning next years State Championships. Even when l played four years of high school football, the East always pride ourselves for being physical. The West has taken that mantle away and placed it in their trophy case. I know that we can get it back! Go Eastern 🏈

I believe I posted earlier in the season your state champs would probably all come from the West. If you look at some of the conferences, the lineups are ridiculous. They are good, and battle tested come playoff time. If I was a betting man, my money would be on Weddington and a 4-0 sweep by the West.

It's been pretty clear in these Championships, running can get you there, but passing will keep you competitive enough to win. Balance offense.

You really think it's a New Bern school board? One member went to New Bern High. Several went to West Craven, including the Super. No idea where folks in Havelock think this is a New Bern board, I assure you, it's not.

Clinton is an old Powerhouse and not intimidated easily, if ever. I don't know much about Rocky Mount teams but in recent years the talent seems to be spread thin between the multiple schools. I personally see them in the same light Cumberland County/Fayetteville schools that never quite make it to the Big Dance. If I had to make a blind bet based on history and intuition I'd go with Clinton. As a Havelock guy I'm torn on this game. I see all our flaws, the biggest being the School Board induced Coaching debacle that began the season with the "new" old Coach being reinstated as Head Coach only to be denied by an otherwise New Bern (insert eye roll) heavy School Board with some backroom rumors as the reason. Really can't make that stuff up. Not good enough for HC but "allowed" to be OC. Go figure. It does affect the Command/Control. Agree with QB assessment for NN. Havelock's #1 RB not 100% but Havelock Defense is VERY good studs up front and ball hawks DBs.KEY How good is NN Defense?

  • daddyrabbitt22 Nov 23, 5:05 p.m.

Well N.Central has had a good year but it all comes to a screaching halt when they go to Clinton. Clinton will easily win this game by atleast 30 to 40 points if they want to. Clinton is on another planet when it comes to HS football in comparison with NC. Nash Central fans just dont know. I encourage you to travel there and witness it for yourself. N central has no chance in thIS one. 0%
Now for NN they have a good chance if their starting QB can play if not the best thing they can do is run wildcat the entire game because that is one position they do not have a back up for. But if they do happen to win it stops next week at 71st. NN was lucky to win last years match up with 71st but it will take more than luck to beat them this year. I am sure they want them again. Just like NN wanted the Scots last week.

If your team is playing the week of Thanksgiving then they are fortunate or they are peaking at the right time. The Big East 2A/3A Conference is elated to have two teams competing in the fourth round this week. The Fighting Knights of Northern Nash have fought their way back in the quarter finals for the second consecutive season in a row. The will travel to Havelock to take on the undefeated Rams. Northern is last year's 3A State Championship Runner Up and are on a crusade to return to capture that Crown. They are gritty, hard nosed and battle tested. The Nash Central Bulldogs have been nothing short of spectacular this season posting the best record in school history. Coach Lee has been building that program each year to compete at this level. The only loses came at the hands of the top two 3A teams in the conference. The 2A East Division will feature the Bulldogs traveling to play the undefeated Dark Horses of Clinton who are looking to move on to the Eastern Finals also. Ballout!!

Camelot is breathing a deep sigh of joy today as their Northern Nash Knights rise another up in a tightly contested playoff win. A powerful Scotland squad was not going to give up their home field easily though. It was a back an forward tug of war between two heavyweights juggernauts. The Knights are in a different role as they are now "Road Warriors". Close nail biting games are not unusual to the Fighting Knights this year. The Crusading Knights have one goal in mind..."Survive and Advance". Now the crusade turn its focus again South when they will travel to Havelock next week to clash with another powerhouse football team. The Rams are on a mission this season and now the Knights are in their path. Undoubtedly, this will be another heavy weight contest as the Knights are battle tested and a force to be reckoned with for sure. The Knights are a great representation for our Big East Conference. We will be pulling with the Camelot faithful as the seek to conquer and foe. GO! BIG EAST!

In the boxing world the analysts will tell you that styles make fights exciting. That was the case with the game last night at Nash Central when they clashed with Hertford County. When you look at the final score (71-68) you think..awwww nobody played defense, but you would be wrong. It was truly two teams played executing at A very high level all night. Hertford County has a prolific passing offense with the best stable of receiving Corps that l have seen in a very long time. There quarterback is about six foot four and about two hundred forty pounds and can drop dimes. Deep balls, out routes, touch passes while scrambling on the run. All of there receivers process tremendous speed. But those of us who knows Nash Central know that they are pure "Dawgs". Central's defense was under attack the entire night, but made big stops and pressured their qb in the second half. The offense was outstanding and the offensive line was absolutely stellar all night. #jamesrocketrogers 7 touchdowns!!!!
