NC State's Berkoff wins bronze at swimming World Championships

Fukuoka, Japan — NC State swimmer Katharine Berkoff won a bronze medal for the United States in the women's 100-meter backstroke at the swimming World Championships on Tuesday.
Berkoff's time of 58.25 seconds was third behind Australia's Kaylee McKeown (57.53) and fellow American Regan Smith (57.78).
Berkoff is also competing in the 50-meter backstroke. Her 27.13 time in at the national championships earlier this month is the fastest time in the world this year and .01 seconds shy of the American record.
Berkoff is a rising senior at NC State.
