Only an imbecile would think that anything with multiple k's in it (aside from the obvious kkk) is racist.

The shoe fits in this case.

Jim Valvano asked Cozell McQueen, who was from the state of South Carolina, why he decided to attend North Carolina State University. Cozell's response was, "I wanted to get out of the South."

Nope, I just pointed out your David Duke memorial tribute and someone at WRAL read it...I think it's great when you live down to your true personality...a real man would have owned up to it...

I'm gonna go with 1983 merely for the absolutely pathetic fact that it's the last time they had something worthy of being proud of. Now, their biggest moment always includes what somebody else has done. That was so long ago, penicillin worked. What an absolute embarrassment their athletic program has become.

The '74 championship over UCLA was huge. The problem is it was so darn long ago nobody remembers it, and the younger generation never heard of it. That's why I tried to include some current events as well. '83 was a pretty remarkable and dramatic run, but it's getting pretty dusty, too, and that team is also widely considered to be one of the worst teams to ever win a championship. Plus, there was the whole cheating thing going on in the Valvano era that kind of mars it all as well.

The fat guy brought us a lot of national exposure. Most people aren't aware NC State exists, so he helped in that regard. Announcers still routinely refer to us as "North Carolina" on the air, and if someone in another state asks you where you went to school and you say "North Carolina State" they start oohing and ahhing thinking you meant UNC. Then you try to explain it to them, and they get all confused. It's pretty embarrassing.

I realize 5&6 are huge to a good portion of the fan base, but personally I don't really care about it. So, all things considered, I'm going to go with #3. It's hard to overlook 3 championships in any sport, let alone in close succession, and it's the only sport in the modern era that we can claim to be a powerhouse at.

Which is the biggest NC State sports moment to you?
It was a tough task narrowing it down with our storied history and all, but these are the top 6 we came up with:

    1. '74 basketball championship
    2. '83 basketball championship
    3. 3 time, 3 time, 3 time Bass Fishin' champions!
    4. That fat guy shaking his blubber at Carter Finley
    5. That time Duke beat UNC
    6. The UNC "scandal
