Is Russell Wilson transferring to play football somewhere else

  I believe (absolutely) that he will be the backup initially. Last year, it took a couple of games before he was back up to game form. He will have to earn it back if he returns. We're re-tooling the offense around Glennon's game. And I believe TOB wants Glennon starting because he needs that experience for next year. This is the year we invest in Glennon. Next year is when (we hope) it pays off, if not this year.
  
  TOB's rule is any player can earn the start. The best player plays. If Russell returns, he will only play when he is better than Glennon. That won't be the case on day one.

  But I don't buy for one min that if Russell comes back that TOB is going to make him the backup. And I hope the Glennon isn't either.

  What a twist THAT would be! Our best QB since Rivers comes back for his senior year and CATCHES passes instead of throwing them!
  
  I have to say, though. Having him in the backfield, but as a receiver, would open the door to all sorts of trick plays. He could catch and run with it, or catch a lateral and sling it downfield.

  You know I've never thought of that, but I have to agree that would be a great move for him and the team. He's not that tall but he is pretty daggon fast. I mean look at A. Edwards. Reminds me of Steve Smith's body type. And we will really be struggling in that position next year.

  He should come back to state and play a year at receiver. If he has any shot of playing in the NFL, it's going to be at something other than QB. A year of preparation would do him a world of good. I'd like to see what he could do.

  yeah ive heard him say several times that his goal is to play a sport professionally, but his first choice is football. so i found it interesting that he didn't even attempt to try and go pro and enter the draft last year, which to me seems like he may have some sort of a plan to come back...esp. if he doesnt tear it up in the minors this summer

  Russell would be a helluva backup, and possibly the starter at some point again. I think it's worth figuring out if he has an intention of transferring.

  I believe he still has a dream of playing in the NFL and MLB. I'm not saying he could or couldn't make it in the NFL. But if he wants to be there, he might want to play for his final year as he pursues his NFL dream.

  But the reason for this blog is to see if anyone has heard anything about this (other than ESPN). I'd like to know if there are any legs to this rumor. I don't know if Russell intends to play football or not, but if he does, I want him in an NC State uniform.

  im not completely sure if it would be possible, didnt he already start grad school here last year so wouldnt he have to sit out a year or could he just start a completely new graduate program somewhere else that we didnt have? personally i think he will either just stick with baseball, or come to state..i dont see him transferring

  I refuse to pay ESPN for "insider" information. However, I find it difficult to believe RW is going to transfer to another school and attend grad school for a year to play football.

  If Russell transfers to play football somewhere else, I'd say it's most likely due to him not liking his outlook at NC State, which would be TOB's cross to bear.
  
  It would also shoot down sportznut's assertion in this blog ( http://www.wralsportsfan.com/ncsu/forum_topic/9458398 ) that TOB is lying to Glennon. If Russell plays football elsewhere this year, that would pretty much confirm that TOB has done nothing but tell Glennon the truth.
