New Orleans — No matter the quarterback, the result remains the same as the Carolina Panthers lose on the road to the New Orleans Saints, 18-10.
The loss is the sixth in a row for the Panthers (5-11) and their eleventh in their last thirteen games.
Sam Darnold started under center for Carolina and completed 17 of 26 passes for 132 yards. He was also sacked seven times, lost a fumble and threw an interception on a last-minute potential game-tying drive.
The Saints (8-8) had not scored a touchdown in 11 quarters but finally found the end zone with 7:49 left on Taysom Hill's 12-yard touchdown pass to Alvin Kamara for the final points of the game.
Carolina's only touchdown game on a Chuba Hubbard 21-yard scoring run early in the second quarter to give the Panthers a 10-3 lead.
Carolina's Lirim Hajrullahu made a 32-yard field goal in the first quarter for the game's first points. But in the fourth quarter, trailing 12-10, Hajrullahu missed a 47-yard attempt for the lead.
Brett Maher made field goals from 41, 27, 41 and 33 yards for New Orleans.
Next week, the Panthers play their season finale on the road against the NFC South champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers (12-4).
