AR can go in there somewhere - top 5'er

Was wondering where AR was in your (very comprehensive) list. Can't argue with your choices. Asking this at a less than stellar time in his career, but do you see Eli in the HOF?

Elisha has won 2 SB rings, has 2 SB MVPs, & appears to be the only QB in the NFL who can beat Tom Brady & the Pats consistently when it matters. He's completing 60% of his passes for his career (below the others but not bad), but he has thrown for close to 52,000 yards and has 338 TDs. He's never going to be mentioned with the top QBs but if Joe Namath is a HOF'er, Eli should be a lock. Plus, he's 8-4 in the playoffs, has 18 TDs versus 9 picks. He belongs in the HOF, imo. I look at Big Ben the same way. Not the best but HOF worthy just the same.

Agree about both Eli and the Killer B.

I hate the way the Giants have tainted the legacy of Eli. The Organization allowed him to be treated like trash by that clown MacAdoo. You can't tell me that the brass weren't complicit in the decision to bench Eli. I thought the Colts were bad in their treatment of Peyton, but the way Eli was treated by the Giants tops that in the category of steaming you-know-what. And teams wonder why players aren't loyal....

Agree. The Giants mishandled the Eli situation badly. He's been a class act throughout and should have been treated with a little more respect. The Colts got lucky in that they were able to point to Peyton's neck as a possible concern, so they get off the hook to an extent. They probably would have let him walk anyway. And I'm sure you remember the way the Packers handled the Favre situation. When certain players do great things for an organization, give them great memories for years to come, etc., it's a bad move to treat them like garbage when their better years are behind them. The "it's just business" stuff gets under my skin, which is precisely why I have zero loyalties to pro teams and pro ball in general. No loyalty from the owners, no loyalty from me as a fan. Kind of at a point with pro ball where I don't really care if I see 'em play or not. College over pro 24/7...

Have no place for the "it's just business" either. It used to be more like a family. Teams don't treat coaches much better. They're hired to be fired. I remember the Favre drama, but I thought he "retired" and then "unretired". I remember they tried to stop him from playing for the Vikings, but Brett had the last laugh when he wore #4 for them anyway!

The whole "retirement" thing with Brett was just media drama. Reached a point where members of the media kept making it an issue. Nobody else cared aside from the media. The Packers reached a point where they had to appease #12 & his agent, which meant an aging #4 had to go. Problem was, the Packers didn't want him in their division/conference, which resulted in some funny maneuvering later, imo. I enjoyed watching him take their lunch during his first year in Minnesota.

Memo to media - any player approaching 40 is thinking about retirement. lol

sports media is getting like MSM, they are out there trying to create stories more than actually reporting on legit stories, sad thing is a lot of these players now days feed right into it.

Eli played with practice squad players this year especially when Beckham and Marshall went down.
My family and I went to the Steelers game Sunday. My first in Pittsburgh. A Xmas present from my daughters. Went to a few in Charlotte, but it really wasn't the same. A true blue collar city. All I saw during the drive were mountains and farms. My wife had a great time with her new IPad. LOL. Beautiful country especially with the snow. Stopped for gas in a small town and noticed a Steelers merchandise store. I thought I was in heaven. LOL!! As for the QB debate, Montana/Brady and the rest. Bradshaw had four rings, but also had a HOF defense.

Nice trip. Been to Pittsburgh a couple of times and the drive was exactly as you described it minus the snow. Steelers D back in the 70s was stout. Something tells me TB, despite his 4 SB rings & HOF status, isn't a big fan of the 'Burgh. Probably like a bad marriage that manages to survive...lol

What a great Christmas present for you, T! I know there's a contingent of Steelers fans here in the Triangle (think Sammy's in Mission Valley is a hangout), but there's nothing like being right in the heart of the place where your team plays.

Steve Logan was talking about Favre yesterday afternoon, and he said exactly what you said - the media created a lot of the drama surrounding the issue, but basically, GB pushed out #4 in favor of #12. It will be interesting to see what develops in Patriot land, now that information is coming out how Brady was threatened by Garoppolo, and wanted him gone, and Belichick was furious but had to cave to appease Brady and Kraft. Brady's days are numbered, and the Pats let a very good backup QB go. The dynasty may by nearing and end.

There is no question that a situation like that can be difficult. Tom Brady's been around, probably thought his coach was planning to throw him under the bus, and it appears he chose to make some demands regarding his former backup to avoid that. I see SB Tom's side of it. Given everything he's done for the Pats, imo, he deserves to call his shot as it relates to his retirement. If I'm a player and I've won 5 SBs, with the possibility of a 6th, I'm going to expect that as well from the organization I'm playing for. Maybe he doesn't trust his coach at this point. If Belichick has been thinking about removing him, who the heck does he think he is after all SB Tom has done? He's the greatest coach ever, imo, but he doesn't have all those rings if not for Brady & a few other great players. Just another coach with the "God complex" who seems to think it's all about him while diminishing the contributions of those who actually made it happen.

Montana/Young, Farve/Rogers, Brady/Jimmy G. At the end of the day head coaches have a job to do and it is a business, The 3 great QB's mentioned above what do they have in common? Two possibly 3 great QB's behind them. Montana never talked to Young. Farve never talked to Rogers. Brady I hear wasn't the greatest friends with Jimmy G. Guess why? They knew their backups were GOOD!!! Farve I heard was best friends with the 3rd stringer the great Ty Dytemer. Farve wasn't worried about him I'm sure. Head coaches have a job to do. Now if Brady goes down or body starts to break down (Peyton) the Patriots have BRYAN HOYER instead of Jimmy G. The media and Farve, guess what Farve loved every second of it!! This type of thing happens in all pro sports because its a business first. Young won a bowl after Montana and so did Rogers. Coach B was thinking of the future because Brady cant play forever. A players pride is more important than the organization I guess. No one can play forever!!

By the way how is Denver doing since Peyton was forced to retire? No legit backup. I bet Elway wish he had a guy by the name of Aaron Rogers, Steve Young or Jimmy G backing up Peyton for a year or two. I hope Eli goes there because that's all they need. Rod Woodson was sore with Pittsburgh and he went on to win a bowl in Baltimore. Troy Palamalu has nothing to do with the Steelers because of his departure now you're talking about a player who gave his heart and soul. Now Harrison and let he said at the end of the day they made a business decision and so did I!! I think Tomlin was wrong!!

It is a business & fairly predictable, which is why I don't see the point in being a "loyal" fan these days. I prefer to follow certain players at this point.

SB rings - Montana won more than Young, Favre & AR both have a ring, & Brady is up 5-0 on his former #2. No guarantees it's going to go according to plan. I'm sure the Colts thought they'd win another SB with a little Luck. Besides, Brady is still one of the best, if not the best, QBs in the league. Look at what Favre did his last season in GB before they caved to #12. Favre knew they were close to being back, which explains the bitterness by #4. Yep...it's a business but that doesn't necessarily make it right. Look at the garbage lineups in MLB for more proof....contract/FO says you play, not necessarily based on performance. I've seen numerous players who should have been benched but orgs continued putting them on the field for all the wrong reasons. Should be performance driven.

I just don't think it's good for the sport when players give their "heart & soul", as you say, only to have some arrogant clown make the decision to send 'em packing in an attempt to say to the world, "See what I just did? Doesn't matter to me that it's Brady, Harrison, Polamalu, or Manning. I'm the show here & don't you forget it." I understand why certain players despise certain coaches/orgs. It's just business.....

Peyton had a team around him. Luck had to come in and start from scratch. I really think he would have played this year if he had the team Peyton had. Farve had a great last year in GB that ended with a pick against the Giants. Listened to Shannon Sharpe and Eric Dickerson the other day and they both agreed that some great players don't want there former organization's to do well after them because its the competitor in them one and also being a bit selfish because they were the man for years and they don't think anyone else can be the man. I understand sometimes its just hard to walk away. Remember Farve's last year with the Vikings? I think he gave it up a few games into the season. Farve said I'm too old to be taking these hits. LOL. Same in college these players aren't going to play in these useless bowls and and risk losing millions at the next level. Final four is all that matters!!

You are right Gunny it use to be family, but now its too much money and at big thing called free agency.
B I don't think Rogers said one word during that time. Problem is Farve knew what he had behind him and great QB's hate that.
