    So, I heard yesterday that Sam Howell was very unclear when asked if he was vaccinated. Ruh row. It would be surprising that he would be willing to take such a chance with all he has on the line this year. I hope he IS fully vaccinated and just didn't want to make any statement.

    The good, the bad and the ugly in the triangle--- Start off with the Bad- Duke looked bad last night just bad, I like Cutt but maybe its time for him ride off into the sunset with K- He has actually done things at Duke I didn't think could be done, he won the coastal. The ugly - That game last night between UNC and VT was an ugly game to watch-there was a few eye catching plays, VT started out strong then wilted, I will give them credit for the relentless Defense- The good - The Pack actually played a pretty complete game but against much outmanned USF. I think Leary maybe a top QB in the league, may 4th or 5th- Future for all 3 Duke will be lucky to go 3-9 this season but for Cutt I hope they prove me wrong. After the Miami game against Alabama, I can judge the coastal, after last night I think its wide open, UNC's 3 toughest game will be (VT) N.D, Miami and State-- the rest of the game are very winnable-- After next weeks game against MIss St I can judge the Pack better--

    In the coastal not sure how UVA, Miami, GT will look, I think Duke will finish 7th, GT will finish 6th-UVA probably 5th, Miami, VT and UNC at the top -- with the wild card being Pitt. In the Atlantic-it will Clemson and a fight between B.C. and State for 2 and 3, Wake and FSU for 4 and 5 and Syracuse bringing up the rear-- Louisville will be the wild card. That being said now the rest of the weekend games will throw all that out. That's my Look--for week 1 in the ACC

    Pretty disappointing weekend for Triangle football. I agree that State looked good, but look who they played. I've heard Leary speak, and the young man is smart and articulate, and he definitely fits the profile of a good State QB. State's D is very good - can't really judge them against USF, but I have a feeling they will win games with that D.
    Carolina clearly wasn't prepared for the atmosphere in Blacksburg. That stadium was PACKED, and LOUD. I expected Carolina's offense to take a step back from last year, losing four very talented players catching and running with the ball. But I expected the D to look much better and they couldn't stop anything. VT ran right through them. Mack looked MAD even before the game started, so I'm not sure what was going on behind the scenes, but that game was ugly and Mack wasn't happy. The game didn't help his mood.
    Miami looked awful against Bama. Georgia/Clemson was unwatchable with the flag fest - too many penalties. State was the best.

    The weekend in ACC- Pack had a warm up the line was 18 and moved up to 20 at game time- setting the score aside, I saw a deep roster not up to Clemson level but solid. They doubled the line- on to next week and a trip to Miss. St. got to step it up, we will see just how good the Pack is.

    UNC, off season nobody talked about losing their two top receivers and running backs- they have one reliable receiver, running game now is a little unstable, the O line has taken a step backward- good news is they should beat GT,Duke, UV, have to see how Miami rebounds and Pitt looked good, I think they can still go 9-3 .

    after looking at games this weekend this is my top 25--

    6-Texas A&M 7-Cincinati 8-Iowa 9-Iowa St. 10-N.D. 11-Floria 12-Oregon 13-Penn St. 14-UCLA 15-Texas 16-USC 17-Coastal 18-VT 19-Wisconsin 20-OLE Miss 21-Auburn 22-Ariz St. 23-Miami 24-UNC 25-Utah I don't think Oklahome deserves to be above Clemson- Tigers held # 2 in the nation out of the end zone-it was basically a tie game except the pick T.D. the eyeball test said Georgia was the better team.

    Yeah T - what's up with the Yankees? The sorry Mets beat them in game 1 of the subway series. Yanks started out bad, won a bunch, now back to losing.
    Glad Duke woke up and won last night. Read retirement isn't on Cut's radar. Good thing for Duke.

    Carolina's game is on ESPN3?? Oh well, they better take care of business.
    State should win as well.

    ACC looked bad last week. Hate all the SEC slobbering. And agree, T, the Tom Terrific blather is more than I can take.

    Sad day today. No matter how many times I see the videos, I'm still shocked.

    Pack will have a tough one Saturday-- not your typical Clemson but better than other ACC teams, four teams in Acc can close the gap- but its gotta start Saturday, VT. Pack, UNC , Pitt. Pack lost at Miss St. but I think they could beat them at least 4 out of 6, game is over got to keep moving on, the game saturday could be a big motivator for pack. First you gotta win the game. Picks all big 4 teams win

    Well, this is an interesting football season not only in the ACC, but most conferences. Ohio State is down, Clemson isn't even ranked anymore, and who knows what Notre Dame is (other than it most likely won't be in the playoffs). The only constant is Alabama. With Clemson out, there goes the ACC's only chance to be in the playoffs. State, Pitt, and Wake look like the best teams in the ACC, and they may get good bowl bids, but none will make it to the playoffs.

    almost half way into season-- coastal up for grabs- Pitt and VT have inside track-- Atlantic is very competitive Wake has upper edge, Pack right with them, don't count out clemson-

    Agree, T, Georgia is good. So far, it looks like Bama and Georgia are two of the four teams to be in the playoffs. I wish they'd go and expand to 12 teams and have some variety. When the SEC went after Big 12 schools, some ADs wanted to put the brakes on expansion.

    I can't print what I feel about yesterday's loss to a 1-4 FSU team. While a Top 10 ranking for the Heels was unrealistic, probably based on having a really good QB in Sam Howell and Mack on the sidelines, but to be 3-3 at this point is disappointing. It won't get any easier, either.

    I watched bits and peices of seveeral games yesterday-- Mack needs to cut back on the hype and get those guys to play team ball, at this point of the season- I don't know who is what, especially in the ACC -still say Alabama will be in the playoffs- Georgia is "dang" good-would love to see Coastal get a shot at a nice bowl. Next week is another week, I would be afraid to put money on any ACC game or outside the ACC for that matter. Wake looked a little shakey but a win is a win. I watched Cincinati they are good but not ready for the playoffs.

    Yeah, Max, this is a crazy year, but it's nice to see a team other than Clemson sit atop the ACC for once. You're right: I wouldn't put money on a game either - even the NFL is a bit crazy. Patriots are struggling, even in wins, and the Chiefs aren't all that either. The Panthers are a mess. Basketball is three weeks away! The will be an interesting year in b ball as well. Carolina has a new Coach, K is on his way out. Wait till Boeheim, Laranaga and Leonard Hamilton retire, and that time is soon. ACC will look very different. Keats actually has the most experienced team in the Triangle.

    Oh yeah, T, the let the slurp fest begin. ESPN and others will be taking part in the farewell tour and K will love every minute of it. This will be worse than the Zion love fest.

    hoping for a Red Sox -Braves W/S may try to go to one game, went to game 6 in 95 when Braves won the W/S 1-0 --I am a little torn about Dodgers/Braves game, I like Trea but like the braves too. Media is still not giving the Pack any respect, last night was a big win but now you have to back it with a win at Miami- this Pack team seems to be having a lot of fun. who knows how the situation gonna end up in the ACC-I think Pitt probably the inside track-Wake has the edge in the Atlantic, still lots if games to be played.

    Max - I see the media giving the Pack respect. Beating Clemson isn't the big deal it once was, but State is ranked, and they're winning games. Looking at their schedule, I can see them winning out. They don't have to play Pitt in the regular season. I can see a Pitt/State ACC championship game. Losing to FSU may cost Carolina a bowl bid. They have a tough schedule ahead with only one cupcake.

    T - yeah - I saw that about K. You're right: just don't go to the games next year and keep your yap shut. No need to announce you don't want to be a distraction, because even saying that IS a distraction.

    Clemson has definitely has not lived up to their hype, got a good defense through, it held that Georgia offense out of endzone gotta give them kudos for that. their offense has struggled, I watch a lot of media heads on you tube, they always bring that Miss St game up but its never mention that Pitt lost to W. Michigan, its ok just keep under the radar and win your games, Pitt should have been in the top 20 before now - Wake is looking good surprised they are only 3 point favorite to Army, UNC, Clemson were the odds on favorite to win their division, now they may struggle to finish 3rd, I may be wrong but I think Clemson-Pitt will be a low scoring game, now the elephant in the room, Pack better be ready for Miami (they are like a wounded animal) they will fight tooth and nail to the end. UNC is off and then play N.D. Wake and Pitt before a shot at Wofford they need at least 2-2 will get them in a bowl. I think that Cutt will gracefully retire after this year, he has been good for Duke.

    Max - the media has respect for the Pack )I watched College Game Day last Saturday, and 3 of 4 not only picked the Pack, but they spoke of the Pack's D). Fans picked the Pack by 74% for the BC game. But I think Vegas needs to wake up. They favored the pack by 3 in the BC game. I thought that was way too low, but BC was thought to be a good team (they may be, but the Pack had their way in the second half). So now I see the Pack only favored by 3 against Miami. Are they KIDDING??? Miami is on their third string QB and their best RB is out. Is Vegas trying to change the betting line? State wins in a laugher.

    The ACCN had a great special on ACC football in the 80's where UVA and GT were really good and had the best football game against each other in ACC history. It was so cool to see the coaches back then. The ACC was viewed as a basketball conference (and maybe still is, although it's been a while since the ACC won a Championship in basketball).

    who would rank as the five best in the ACC this season-seems like Pitt is the media Darling at this point. I would go 1- Wake (un til they lose if they do) 2- NCSU (un til they lose) 3- Pitt 4- Clemson by default they haven't looked all that good but they are 4-2 at 5-2 UVA is at 5. Interesting games this weekend, Wake at Army I have two predictions picking Army -think Wake will take it. Pitt vs Clemson could go either way- Pack visits Miami-- this is a scary game Miami has put up points, seen one guy picked Miami 34-21. Hope all goes well for the ACC this weekend I will pick Pack,Wake, Clemson this weekend--

    Max - Pack will beat the pants off Miami. They may try to put up a fight, but they don't have the horses. The analysts on Game Day last week mentioned how good the Pack's D is. Locally, Packer and Durham talk up the Pack and reminded us that the Pack's D is thriving - after losing two of their best defensive players for the year. I read bowl predictions (forget the source - maybe Bleacher Report?) and they had Carolina in the Gator Bowl. Are they kidding? The Heels are in real danger of not making a bowl at all. I only see the Wofford game as a W, and they better not sleep on them. Wake, Pitt and State is a murderer's row of games. They never should have lost to FSU. Never. They were a 17.5 point favorite, with FPI 77% chance to win. And they lose. I really like Mack, but he may be past his prime. I give him credit for turning the program around and generating interest (don't know why the Miami game was so poorly attended, with a 3:30 kick, though).

    well trip to Miami did not go so well, there are no locks this year, except maybe Wake and Pitt but I would not bet on them in a conference game. Louisville game coming up will be tough especially with Isaiah Moore out, not a plethora of injuries this year but key ones have hurt now its next man up. N.D. will probably beat UNC, not because they are that great but home field advantage will be the difference. Wake will take out Duke, Cutt may bow out gracefully after this year. He was good for Duke he got them back to a respectable position but its time for a coach similar to the Wake coach. Would not be surprised if somebody tries to poach him away from Wake. A school with a pedigree could probably do it, with Sou Cal, LSU, and a couple of others maybe Miami-- there will be a trickle down.

    Well, Max, so much for my prediction in the State/Miami game. The Wake/Army game was great to watch. I like offense, and that game was all offense and no defense. I'd say Wake could give State a tough game, but it didn't look like their D was very good allowing Army to score 59. I hope Clausen stays at Wake. He's done a good job, and their QB Sam Hartman is for real. Pitt's QB Kenny Pickett is getting all the love. Sam Howell has dropped a few notches with Carolina struggling. I hope Georgia wins this year - anyone but Alabama.

    Top 3 QBs in the ACC are Armstrong, Hartman and Pickett--Armstrong has an arm and that can drop a pass on a dime, Pickett was the media darling when Pitt when was rolling the wins up, all Hartman has done is lead his team to victory after victory-most improved QB Pickett and Leary, out of nowhere QB Armstrong- top 3 QBs preseason was Howell, King and DJ, they have dropped to near the lower half-- just shows you don't don't believe preseason hype by ESPN or any other sports outlet. I think that as many 11 ACC teams could make a bowl this year. Miami seems to be better than thought. two of their losses to UNC and UVA could have been victories. Looking at the Packs losses Miss St with victories over Tex A&M and Kentucky (both ranked) not looking as bad as did earlier-- seems like is was only a day or two ago that Va.Tech and UNC game people were trying to annoint Va Tech as the best team in the ACC looking back it was probably the best game they played (crowd has a huge impact).

    I really like Hartman, but playing in the ACC is a detriment, not a positive. Hard to tell what will happen, but as usual, even the best teams in the ACC will get decent bowl bids, and win or lose, will be forgotten for the SEC. We're still viewed as a basketball conference.

    Well I think the ACC is multi-sport oriented- Clemson, Miami, VT , FSU, are strongly Entrenched in football, Duke, UNC UVA, Syracuse and Louisville lean strongly toward Basketball- but both groups take an interest in the other major sport. NC State, Pitt, BC, Wake tend to lean toward FB in a moderate way-- GT who knows - they have won championships in both, I would say they are viewed as a BB school but prefer to be a FB school mainly due to the competitive nature of Georgia in their own state. I have heard it said the ACC needs Miami, FSU, VT and Clemson to be good- that is the media perspective, I think it would be great for other schools to build up their FB image and also great for the conference-- that is my 2 cents -- penny for your thoughts.

    the football season is approaching the 3/4 line and Coastal as usual is up in the air, Pitt controls their Destiny but with a little help others can jump in. The Atlantic is Wake or State's to win, they control their destiny, couple of other teams will need help. This week and next weeks game are going to be interesting. BC beat VT last night and their QB is hurt, after today have to re-evaluate the conference. 10th week bowl reports will come out next week.- the fun all begins in a few hours.

    Watched the women's State/USC game yesterday. Two good coached teams. USC had there entire roster back. Those women are good.

    Big game-- for the Pack- biggest in several years- probably best wake team of all time-especially offensively- not an end all for the Pack but a win would be monumental for their physic, Wake is an offensive machine defense is a little weak-Pack is more balance. limit the number of possesions for wake and get the offense clicking.
    All the Pack players are giving their all, have lost many defensive players-- not just players the heart and soul of this team, Peyton Isaiah, Phagon Baker- Williams and Savion Jackson were out the last game and many others are out for the season but the old next man up theory has work for the Pack, Drake Thomas was considered # 3 linebacker ,,Peyton,Isaiah, Drake line up, now he is the leader others have stepped up. Announcer has said DD has done a great job switching a player to different position and watching him excel. Jacoby Meyers for one. A special hats off to Trent Pennix- reminds me of J-Sam,Trent is a great young man, so glad for him.

    Bowl games for the ACC Top 6 Bowls are: 1- Peach or Fiesta 2-- Cheez-it 3- Holiday 4- Gator -- --5- Mayo 6- Pinstripe Top 6 Teams as it stands Now-- 1-WF 2- Pack-- 3- Pitt-- 4-Clemson 5-UVA --
    6- Miami- after this weekend they will mix it up again, Teams looking to not make a bowl are Duke, FSU, GT, VT, ones that will are UNC, and probably or possibly will are Syracuse, Louisville & BC will revise after Monday.

    Pitt, UVA, Miami, and UNC still have a shot at the coastal--Pitt: win out --Miami: win out and Pitt lose one and UVA lose 1-- UVA just win out-- UNC first win out, Pitt lose two more and Miami lose one more and UVA lose one more. If it goes to multiple tie breakers -- who knows???
    The Atlantic is a little simpler--Wake or State just win out, if Pack loses to Wake they are out, if Wake loses to State just win out and hope for a Pack loss. Clemson: Beat Wake and hope Wake lose another and State loses two--- Wake and Clemson end up with 2 losses, possible State, Wake and Clemson end up tied

    Wow Max - I'd need to be a math major to keep up with all the possible bowl bids, not to mention who will win the Coastal. At least UNC has a chance after beating Wake. What a crazy game that was! Total score of 113! Defense was no where to be found. My kind of game.

    I think State's D will take care of Wake, but I haven't good in my predictions. Heels are a 6.5 dog to Pitt. That will be a tough game. Pitt is good.

    The K Farewell Slurpfest has begun. The "last time" he begins the season in MSG, blah blah blah. I do think Duke will be very good this year. It looks like Duke, FSU, and then the middle tier and the rest. We'll see.
    Football season is flying by.

    Yeah Gunny juts win six games and it's a great season. Hard to keep up with it, that's why I don't. Just pay attention on who wins there conference and who wins it all.

    Yeah headline his last home opener. He is eating this up but says he doesn't like it. yes you do. I'm not watching one second of a duke game this year. They won't lose a home game...

    Manny out for the season....
