Former Duke basketball legend and 15-year NBA veteran JJ Redick interviewed for the Toronto Raptors’ head coaching vacancy this week, according to several media reports.

Unnamed sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that Redick was part of a first round of interviews with the franchise. Sportsnet Canada also reported the news about Redick's interview.

Redick has served as an NBA analyst for ESPN since he retired from the league in September 2021. He also hosts the “The Old Man and the Three” podcast along with Tommy Alter.

The Raptors are looking to fill the void after firing Nick Nurse in April.

ESPN reported that Toronto had gained permission to interview several candidates, including Golden State's Kenny Atkinson, Milwaukee's Charles Lee, Phoenix's Kevin Young, San Antonio's Mitch Johnson, Sacramento's Jordi Fernandez, Memphis' Darko Rajakovic and Las Vegas Aces coach Becky Hammon. Current Raptors assistant Adrian Griffin is also an interview candidate for the job, sources said.

Redick played for six NBA teams during his NBA career: the Orlando Magic, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Philadelphia 76ers, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks.

In 2006, Redick was the NCAA’s national player of the year for Duke.
