Eagles draft Weddington 2-time state champion rusher Will Shipley

Will Shipley, a former national Top 100 recruit and star at Weddington High School, is now a Philadelphia Eagle.

The Eagles drafted the Clemson running back with 127th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. It was the 27th pick in the fourth round. He is projected to backup Saquon Barkley in Philadelphia.

Shipley is a 5-foot-11, 206-pound rusher who ran a 4.39 in the 40-yard dash at Clemson's pro day.

The former Weddington standout led the Warriors to 3AA state championship victories in 2018 and 2019. He was also an incredible lacrosse player in high school.

The class of 2021 player rushed for 3,457 yards and 49 touchdowns over his sophomore and junior seasons on varsity. He also caught 62 passes for 975 yards and 14 touchdowns over those two years. He did not play as a senior after the season was moved to the spring as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Shipley enrolled at Clemson in the winter.
