and really apply it. You know, with with a season that begins in just a few weeks after training camp, Uh, I mean, I feel like I feel like all of that is just out the window, you know, we gotta weigh, got a whole new star. We've got new guys on the team. It's been so long since we've actually, you know, play together and, uh, you know, had a chance to really build chemistry. So, um, ones were ableto get practice going. I feel like everybody is just gonna have to really, like, lock in and really focus on. You know, what we're trying toe accomplish this year. A lot of terminology, new terminology, terminology that we have going on. So we got, like, really a couple of practices, Really? And then those those exhibition games to really try toe, you know, focus in on what we wanna accomplish. Eric. Hey, how are you? Um, the it during. After after they drafted low Melo on draft night, J b pointed out that he really wanted to create more of a system where the ball handling there was a lot of free flow. Enough people handlers in the Florida anyone time that whoever got a rebound could engage the offense he wanted to turn it into. You know, what I'm saying is mawr of ah, you know, have a lot of people who could do that. And also a lot of people empowered to do that. I was curious. Now with the mellow adding to the mix of you and Devante and to some degree, Gordon, how do you think everybody will blend together in a pretty dramatically different team? Oh, yeah. Culture has been really trying toe, you know, stressed that even last year, you know, whoever gets the ball, really bring it. But a lot of times, you know, it was me and Terry going back to get the ball, you know, he would stress us to get up the court and run. So I think he's just gonna be emphasized even more, you know, adding Romelo, adding Gordon, obviously Miles and P. J. And those guys can bring the ball down the court handling the ball, but I think it just makes us even more of a threat. Uh, you know, you see a lot of teams doing it, especially like Miami with bam and and people, you know, those stretch fours fives. Bring the ball down the court. You know, it just make you even more of a threat as a team. And J B said yesterday, um, he really strongly signaled that he wants to move in the direction of PJ playing a bunch of five and miles playing a bunch of four. When you guys go in that small ball direction, can you just talk a little about how that makes you guys different? Okay, Uh, feel like we have all five guys can shoot the ball. All five guys can handle the ball. Uh, all five guys are unselfish. So we play for one another on did just give us more options, you know, scoring the ball. And we're scrappy defensively. Um, or at least we have to be, You know, if we're gonna play small, we got we got a defensive rebounding, things like that to help us get out in transition and then play how we wanna play, outrun people, you know, spread the floor and shoot threes. Thanks. Let's go, Sam. And then Richie, they didn't want I hope you're doing well. Um, Sam, with hornets dot com, you talked at the end of the season and again at the workout bubble a lot about some of the improvements you want to make, I think mainly finishing at the rim, becoming a three level score where you kind of do you feel like you're in that part of the development of your game? And what are some of some of the challenges in terms of building on the season you had last year, which was so extraordinary? And now taking another jump after the jump, the big jump you just made, uh, definitely still working on that, you know, just got off the court doing a lot of finished. Just floaters, uh, mid range jump shots and obviously working on three point and stuff like that. But yeah, what was the second part of your question? So the bit you made obviously a huge jump last year. Is it challenging to kind of go back and say Okay, now what can I get better after the jump? You made one of the challenges and kind of Okay, I made this sleep. Now I'm gonna try and take another one. Uh, I don't think it's no challenge. No. As a basketball player or any square want to get better every year. You know, you don't get complacent with you had prior. So, um, obviously, you know, I've been working and, you know, whatever it is that I got to do for the team to be successful and waiting game is what I'm gonna do. Uh, even if it is not scoring more assists better defensively. Like whatever the case is, you know, I'm just gonna make sure I maintain playing at a high level. Thank you, Richie. A Davante. This is Richie from the Busby podcast. Eso. Last season you played primarily on the ball. Took a ton of pull up threes. Pick and roll was about half of your offense. You definitely were asked to do a lot with the ball in your hands. Having said that, Charlotte has now acquired Romelo Gordon Hayward. We're both good playmakers. They're gonna be able to create opportunities for others. Um, with JB preaching position. This basketball Do you feel there's room for you to actually be mawr effective this season? If you shift your no more time off of ball. And what does that look like for you? And how you can be effective without the ball. I think it's good, you know, not having all the attention on me. Uh, you know, it's gonna help everybody, Uh, if I'm off the ball in the ball like you said, we got a lot of playmakers, so, you know, it's just gonna open up even more opportunity, you know, even more shots, not even for myself. But the guys like Terry Miles PJ Andi. Then even when Gordon or Lamela's off the ball is gonna open up things for them. So I feel like it's gonna is really gonna help us, you know, my office in the long run. Thank you. Let's go, Rod. And then Danny, we have devante rob doing here, man question for you. Just what's your overall first impressions of the mellow ball so far? And what you think he could bring to this team? You know, the first year, player, Um, you know, just just just what can you bring? Intangible. Why? So you guys as just a different act that dynamic player out there? Uh, man, he got energy. Like Billy. Uh, y'all know Billy and been around Billy. He bring a lot of energy and the mellow come in smiling every day excited, obviously happy to be here s oh, you know, I love his energy that he's been bringing. Um, he's been here every day working. So obviously, you know, we love people who work, and obviously he's a great player, you know? So he's a number three drafted. He's gonna he's gonna bring that energy to the court. Obviously, a lot of people say it's fun to play with. We all haven't been on the court together yet, so I haven't been ableto, you know, play with him, uh, on the team or against him. But I feel like it's gonna It's gonna be a good fit for us. But Danny and then will, uh Danny Thompson with the three point conversion last year, you took a lot of shots. I think your field goal percentage was 39% last year from the floor having more playmakers and more spaces. Like I said, with Melo and Gordon, do you feel like it would be much more efficient, especially the catch and shoot this year compared to last year? I think so. Uh, like I said, it's gonna make a lot of a lot of offense more easier, you know, a lot of shots easier with more playmaking on on the floor and the defense having a, you know, not just focus on me coming off pick and rolls. Now you gotta focus on the mellow and Terry and Gordon, you know? So it's like it is going to make it easier for all of us, and we're going to get a lot more open, open and catch and shoot shots and a lot less, you know, off the pick and roll. Four shots. Vonta. I got a couple questions for just one more quick when you make any bets against the Wildcats last night. Jayhawks. Oh, yeah. You know, I did came up a little bit of money, too. Anything? Anything fun with a teammate fitting in anything fun with P J or somebody? Well, PJ was scared of bed at first. Uh, I was talking to him all day at the gym this morning, yesterday, yesterday morning, And then he takes me Last night like seven o'clock was like, All right, I'll finally bet you I'm like And what took you so long? Tried to bend on 500 but he he only set up for 100. Uh, last year, I know I talked to J B before the season and he was saying, Yeah, I bought to make the playoffs, of course. But this year was all about, you know, getting the younger guys to be better and evolving for the next season. Now, this season, you guys have some real expectations of making the playoffs. Is that a different feeling? And how exciting is that, I assume, Have those expectations? That was great. Um, I mean, I feel like obviously, you know, as we the longer year in the league, you know, you get more comfortable, you get more adjusted, you know, And like, we don't have to work on our chemistry obviously again. But we're all excited about a year. We've been sitting out so long, so I know everybody is anxious to get back on the court and just to be playing again. So But, like, I feel like it's good energy, uh, in the locker room and with the coaches and everybody in the individual workouts so far, is it a different energy being like, Hey, we're going for the playoffs this year? Yeah, I mean, we're gonna put playoffs last year. But, I mean, obviously, the the energy is a little bit different. A little bit extra, uh, emotion around here. So it is different. Let's wrap up with Richard. Richard. You on you? Yeah. The devante. Obviously similar to the question. Will, um last year there were no expectations for you or the team. What are your expectations for the team and for yourself? This season? You said there were no expectations. You're on you. Yeah, there were no expectations, You know, for you to play much or, you know, it was kind of like it was a surprise that you you know, you get the most improved player and probably should have gotten that war. Uh, I mean, way we got big expectations within within ourselves in our locker room. Uh, it's all about It's all about what we believe in in ourselves and in each other. Um, but I don't any personal expectations. I just let it play. I let it go out and play and let things happen as they may. You know so But as far as the team, uh, yeah. We want to make the playoffs. We feel like we can push that in the East especially, you know, with our new pieces at it. And, you know, it's gonna It's gonna be a It's gonna be a fun year. It's gonna be hard, but that's that's what we're here for.
